After his second season with the team, Kemba Walker may be on the move this offseason, sources tell Brian Robb of MassLive. The Celtics will explore trade options for Kemba Walker, but will they actually trade him?
The Celtics don’t HAVE to trade Kemba Walker. The contract situation isn’t pretty but if Kemba finishes out this contract and resigns with Boston on a team-friendly deal, serving as the sixth man, the Celtics could be a dangerous team. However… it may just be best to cut ties now, as we’ve seen in the past with guys like Al Horford, Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward leave for essentially nothing in return. The knee is a huge concern though, so who would take Kemba Walker, and what will it cost the Celtics?
Kemba Walker’s remaining contract:
2021-22: $36 million
2022-23: (Player Option) $37.6 million
Potential suitors to trade for Kemba Walker:
- Chicago Bulls
- Denver Nuggets
- Los Angeles Clippers
- New Orleans Pelicans
- New York Knicks
- Toronto Raptors
